Live Ball Rules
The Challenger team must win four points before the Champion team wins two in order to move to the Champion side.
There is no serving in Live Ball.
Every point will begin with a feed from the instructor and a cross-court hit.
Games last for 1.5 hours, broken up into three 30-minute segments.
Each segment begins with a different instructor feed / shot from the challengers :
- Segment 1 – Forehand crosscourt
- Segment 2 – Backhand crosscourt
- Segment 3 – Inside out forehand
Until the final 15 minutes of play, the first hit cannot be directly “poached” by the Champions Team net player (it must be returned by the baseline player).
Challengers who hit an outright winner (untouched by the Champions) off the first ball feed will become Champions straight away.
If the returning player on the Challenger team misses the first 2 feeds from the instructor they move to the back of the line. The net player of the Challenger team remains with the new partner.
If the Challenger team wins they move to the Champion side of the court. The player on the deuce side of the court moves to the ad side. The player on the ad side moves to the deuce side. This allows players to get in position on the other side of the court as quickly as possible for the next challenge.
7 Players
The 3 players not currently on the court wait in 2 lines (net and baseline). A new player from each line swaps in when the existing Challengers either move to the Champions side or are defeated.
5 or 6 Players
The 1 or 2 players not playing both wait in a single line at the baseline.
If the existing Challenger team is defeated the baseline player moves to the net position and a new baseline player moves in from the line.
If the existing challenger team wins and moves to the Champions side the baseline player from the old Champions team moves to the net position and a new baseline player moves in from the line.
It’s fast-paced, fun, competitive, amazing doubles training, and a phenomenal cardio-work out.
Warning: it can quickly become addictive!
